scholar athletes... champions for Christ
Dr. Jack Hawkins, Chancellor of Troy University, is often heard sharing with others, “Athletics is the front porch of a house”. For this reason, he has made it his mission to build a beautiful front porch at his university. He understands that very few would come into, or remain, in his home if it did not have curbside appeal and if the porch was caving in. CCCK has an opportunity to begin building a beautiful and extremely functional front porch for so many to see.
We believe this new Athletics facility will play a vital role in helping our tuition driven college grow our Men’s and Women’s Wrestling program from twenty-three (23) current student athletes to our goal of fifty (50) student athletes. The institution has sent many missionaries out in the world and pastors out of our city to spread the Gospel and impact thousands of communities. With this facility we would have a unique opportunity to impact our very own community in McPherson by providing a shared Athletics facility with the MAC Wrestling Club, which has over two hundred youth Wrestlers. As you know the major cost in the development of a new facility is the cost of the land and the building. Fortunately, we own both land and building. Thank you in advance for consideration of our proposal. We will be praying for the Lord’s guidance and your discernment on this matter and we will respect whatever your decision may be at this time.
As I think back about the opportunity my son Paul missed when he came to Central, I am disappointed he didn’t get a chance to wrestle.
The fact is, there are lots of Paul Ferrell’s still in this community and the region that should be afforded the opportunity to wrestle at Central and receive the type of education we can offer. In order to do that, we need facilities to attract these student athletes.
The proposal to use the Tidy Laundry building will enhance that opportunity for now and into the future. With this addition, we will have scores of students prepared to contribute to society with a solid Christian foundation.”
