Year End Giving 2021This past year has been an interesting time of ever shifting mandates, opinions, and outcomes. The quest for truth seems to have derailed in to in a mad pursuit of protecting personal and political positions. Amid this assault, individuals are seeking some sort of stability and balance. However, in the presence of dueling voices, our attention and allegiance seem to shift, especially when the veracity of what we hear is difficult to ascertain.

In times like this, I get a better sense of what the author of James was talking about when he used the imagery of folks being blown and tossed by the wind. Our staff and faculty are persistent in their desire to help students wrestle with the paradoxical realities of opposing voices, especially when every voice claims truth.
As I think of the mission of Central Christian College, I too realize that we operate in a paradoxical reality. However, unlike the world around us, our paradoxes provide greater clarity and conviction, rather than adding to the confusion and disorientation associated with clamoring chaos of our modern world.
I guess this should not come as any surprise. Paradoxical realities are commonplace for those who live in Christ. Phrases like “In our weakness, we are made strong” “In dying, we live” and “In losing all, we gain everything” are customary truths that serve as the foundation of our faith. I guess that is what the writer of Corinthians was getting at when he stated, “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
As President, I am stirred by the paradoxical reality of being anchored in Christ, while also enjoying the unfettered freedom provided through Christ.
As a college we are anchored in Christ. In response to the winds of chaos and change that blow around us, we remain moored to the truths of Christ and the traditions articulated in our Wesleyan Heritage. I know that this has been a growing concern for those who have seen shifts in institutions and associations that once served as pillars of principle and conviction. Let me be very clear here, Central Christian College remains steadfast in her faith, passionately clinging to the Cross of Christ.
Even as I write these words, my mind echoes with the great refrain, “I know Whom we have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which we have committed unto Him against that day.”
At the same time, we enjoy the unfettered freedom of pursuing life in Christ. As a college, firmly rooted in the traditions and beliefs that have defined us for 137 years, we also relish in the creative and pioneering spirit of God. It is through this freedom that the College can effectively respond to emerging issues and needs. Generations change. Interests ebb and flow. The marketplace shifts.
Citizenship in Christ provides us opportunities to tap into the creative nature of God, elevating our capacity to embrace innovation and transformation.
All of that to say – you can remain confident that Central Christian College remains faithful to her mission and values. That means, as a contributor you can be assured that your gift remains dedicated to promoting the truths of Christ and challenging students with the wondrous reality of the Cross – where yet another paradox unfolds – as death brings new life!
I am asking that you consider supporting the work of Central Christian. If there was ever a time to ensure that the message of Christ remains secure, and the light of Christ remains bright – this would be that time. The support of friends like you is needed and significant.
Thank you for your partnership and support.
