Tag! You’re it!
Well, not really, although everyone who participates in the Christmas campaign will get the opportunity to write a note to go on a Christmas “Tag”. However, this Christmas tag is special, it gives you a unique opportunity to directly touch the life of a student.
If done before December 11th, your note will have a double blessings, as it will serve as an encouragement through finals, as well as a reminder of love and support through the upcoming holidays. While Christmas affords students a break from campus, many return to very broken homes, where Jesus is not always spoken. Your simple note of encouragement will remind them they are loved and supported.
Isn’t that what the Christmas season is all about? A time in which we give and receive tidings of comfort and joy? Do you remember those simple words, spoken by angels, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people”? Those simple words of encouragement came with a great gift – paving the way for each of us to have a personal and life altering relationship with Jesus Christ.
I was recently reminded of the importance of relationships when we welcomed over 200 friends and family to the 2018 Homecoming Weekend. In the midst of all the fun and fellowship, I was struck by the presence of a common theme; a thread of truth that seemed to weave all generations together, regardless of graduation year. That collective cord was RELATIONSHIPS. From the oldest alum present, down to the most recent, individual after individual shared about the key relationships that defined there time at Central Christian. I heard about relationships with staff members, faculty, fellow students, coaches, roommates, and teammates. Each a perfect reflection of the most important relationships one can discover – that relationship with our loving Lord and Savior.
This remains the essential mission of Central Christian College of Kansas. Make no mistake about it, providing a Christ-Centered Education for Character is all about providing students the opportunity to have a RELATIONSHIP with Christ. That is why your support is so important to us. Through your continued generosity, you ensure that each and every student has an opportunity to know Him and make Him known.
In closing, please be sure to fill out the enclosed card and provide some encouragement to a student today. Along with that, please consider a generous end of year gift to help us close out the year and start afresh in 2019. From all of us here at Central Christian College of Kansas, we pray that the light of Christ shines brightly this Christmas season, and that the warmth of His love and grace surround you.
P.S. One of my very few memories of Christmas involved looking through the annual Sears Christmas Catalog. As a young boy, this annual tool was very useful to me. Aiding me in the creation of a Christmas list that included all possible scenarios, which rarely included clothe(especially socks). In memory of those days, I would like to present to you our annual Christmas Wish List. This catalog of concerns are very specific and concrete ways that you can assist the work of Central Christian College of Kansas. Each item represents a need that falls beyond what the annual budget can support, but is very needed.
Please consider support one or more items. Or, you can always do what I did and just say “All of the above”.
