Pressing on Toward Higher GroundIn a time of ever shifting and sinking sands, Central Christian College remains firmly rooted in Christ and our Wesleyan heritage. Like in the hymn, “Higher Ground”, we endure – established on heaven’s tableland. Yet, we also continually seek new heights, pursuing higher ground, in order to elevate the mission of Central so that we may provide a transformative experience, preparing students to become agents of redemptive transformation.
That is our vision and the heart of this campaign. While we work to elevate the mission of the institution, and its distinctive work in our world, this campaign is specifically focusing on ways we can elevate the student experience. Each of the following initiatives specifically targets an element of the student experience that needs to be elevated, enhancing enrollment, retention, and student success. We look forward to partnering with you, as together, we seek higher ground. Contribute to Elevate Today |
Higher GroundWritten by Johnson Oatman commonly known as “Higher Ground” for many it is a favorite hymn. Gospel biographer J.H. Hall asserted, “This song at once took high rank among the holiness people, and secured a lasting place in American hymnology.”
The wonder of this hymn is its dual focus, which compels the singer to fix his or her eyes on our eternal hope, while also inspiring hope of this temporal journey. It is reminiscent of the Philippians passage that encourages us to strain forward – press on – toward that upward call. |

From the Desk of the President
For 140 years, Central Christian College of Kansas has remained true to the commission that inspired our founding in 1884 – “to develop not only a thorough scholarship but a noble Christian character”.
What started in one building in Orleans Nebraska has now expanded to a global forum for Christ, including undergraduate and graduate students, online and on-ground, and representing students from over 31 countries from around the world.
Embedded in our vision is this grand idea that the educational experience at Central Christian serves to amplify the transformative work of Christ, preparing our graduates to become advocates of redemptive change. As such, students coming to Central Christian have the opportunity to discover Christ, be transformed into His likeness, reflect His character, and enter back into the civic forum ready to engage the world from a Christ-centered perspective.
This is who we are and this is who we will continue to be.
That being said, celebrating all that God has already done, we also recognize that a rich heritage does not guarantee a thriving future. It is only through the faithful support of folks like you that we can continue this mission.
