Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past ten years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
This is Central's third year participating in Giving Tuesday. In 2019, the alumni and friends of the college raised several thousand dollars to install a disc golf course and a hammock farm on campus. In 2020, we raised over $10,000 to help refurbish the Mingenback Hall lobby to give students another study space option. In light of COVID-19, these projects have had a larger impact than we were even expecting, creating additional opportunities for students to be together, active, and socially distanced.
This Giving Tuesday we have a number of projects that we believe will have even greater impact for the students, staff, and community.

GREER AUDITORIUM RENOVATION PROJECTBuilt in 1986, Greer Auditorium has been host to a multitude of events and activities over the decades. Alumni, community members, staff, and students alike have been blessed by the use of this facility. Now the time has come to give the auditorium a much-needed facelift. The mauve paint and teal carpet were once a very vibrant and popular color scheme in its day, but as styles change it is apparent that Greer needs an updated and more modern appearance. Over the years, Greer Auditorium has been the host of rental group events, the bi-annual Kansas State Sheriff training, homecoming, baccalaureate, academic convocation, chapel, theatre, music, film nights, concerts, awards ceremonies, and much more. Non-Central groups that use the space regularly include: Roosevelt Elementary, Our Diamond Miss, Holiness Camp, and the McPherson Police Department. Each of these organizations represent hundreds and thousands of individuals utilizing this auditorium annually. The 300 Central students alone are impacted regularly with the use of this facility. The building is rented out to the community for a host of events year-round. The Our Diamond Miss Pageant, music groups, political rallies, church groups, Camp Invention (a community science camp), and many other groups. The building also donates its services yearly to Roosevelt Elementary School music performances three times a year, Community Piano Students Recital, and occasionally to the community theater. With quite a need, our plan is to give the auditorium a new coat of paint - with a new color scheme - and new carpet. Please consider aiding in this venture; Help us refurbish Greer Auditorium today by donating using the campaign tool below. Thank you!
