The health history of my family is pretty sketchy. Many of my forbearers met eternity earlier than expected due to health related issues. So, you can image that I try to be as careful as possible in an effort to maintain good health. While I have no uncertainty about my eternal destination, I am not necessarily in a hurry to begin the next part of the journey. To that end I look for ways to maintain my health and promote longevity of life.
Recently I was reading an article that highlighted the incredible benefits of maintaining an attitude of gratitude. In one study, researchers found that people who wrote a letter of heartfelt thanks felt happier for a full month after writing the letter. In turn lowering blood pressure, improving immune function, and facilitating more efficient sleep. Who knew that just maintaining an attitude of gratitude could be so good for you? As you may be well aware, traditionally, institutions like ours have always put out an end of the year appeal. With the changes in tax laws and regulations, some people have become more reluctant to use the end of the year for charitable giving and support. So, rather than appeal to the tax benefits, I was wondering if I might appeal to your charitable concern for my well-being. Just think about it, as a result of your generous year end gift I will have the opportunity to write notes of thanks and gratitude. In turn, the gratefulness I experience in articulating our thanks back to you will result in numerous positive health benefits. In essence, your generous support would be ensuring that I remain vigorous and fit. Oh yes, and of course every gift received will also ensure that the mission of Central Christian College of Kansas remains vibrant and no less vigorous than my own health. All joking aside, your gift will make a difference in the lives of students and also provide you with the chance to experience the benefits of an attitude of gratitude. Because when you give, you can enjoy that sense of appreciation and joy knowing that you have invested in the mission of CCCK. So – what do you think? Can you help a guy out? Your gift today ensures that you and I will enjoy all the benefits of an attitude of gratitude. More importantly, your gift will advance the incredible work that God is doing through this great institution. Blessings, Leonard Favara, Jr. President, Central Christian College of Kansas |
