Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

This is Central's second time participating in Giving Tuesday. In 2019, the alumni and friends of the college raised several thousand dollars to install a disc golf course on campus. This project was installed this fall. In light of COVID-19, this project has had a larger impact than we were even expecting creating additional opportunities for students to be together, active, and socially distanced. 

This Giving Tuesday we have two projects that we believe will have even greater impact for the students, staff, and community. Check out this year's projects below!

Water Filling Stations

Overview
  • Help us install 3 new water bottle filling stations and drinking fountains in high traffic areas on campus.
  • Each station costs the college over $1,000 to install.
  • Staying hydrated is always important, but even more so during COVID-19 students need access to clean and good tasting water.
  • The campus currently has three stations. This would double the accessibility to filtered water for students!

THE MINGENBACK PROJECT

Overview
  • Mingenback Hall was built in the 1980's as the Home Economics Building spearheaded by Grace Rhodes. Today, Mingenback Hall houses classrooms as well as the Math and Science departments.
  • Due to Covid-19 and the need for increased locations on campus to gather and social distance, the Mingenback Project has become a priority for 2020- 2021.
  • Mingenback Hall was renovated as an alumni project 20 years ago and it’s now time to replace both carpet and lobby furniture, which are well used by over 1000 people from students, staff, community members, and professional societies each year.
  • Our first goal for Giving Tuesday is to raise the needed funds to replace carpet – it is well worn!
  • Please help Central provide another generation of CCCK students a quality location for classrooms, studying, and being together.
