CENTRAL: STAYING THE COURSE

Students have returned home for an extended Christmas break, following participation in a semester that almost never happened. If anything, this year has been a story of grit and determination. From the chaotic nature of spring and summer and the mad dash through fall, the theme has been "Staying the Course".
While the sojourn of this season has been long, and at times frenzied, I have discovered that somewhere between the light of the pandemic, the pandemonium of protests, and the press of political platforms, the mission of Central Christian College of Kansas has once again been affirmed to be both timely and timeless.
Throughout this time I have found myself reflecting on Hebrews 12, which reminds us of the importance of our community, calling, and commission. A much needed admonition.
Thankfully, Science Hall is no stranger to adversity. Whether it be President Lewis facing the Spanish Flu and first Great War, President Stoll facing the Dust Bowl and Depression, or President Miller steering the College through the rise of World War II - through many a tragedy and triumph, Central has stood the test of time. Our history provides us with a great cloud of witnesses, each able to affirm our path through the turbulent times of today.
Resting in the shared knowledge of that great community, our calling is no less. Like so many before us, in good times and in bad, our summons is to fix our eyes on Christ, to run with purpose and perseverance the path before us, to hold unswervingly to our Christ-Centered mandate - never losing heart - never growing weary. It is a call to stay the course and remain steadfast in the commission that first inspired Orleans Seminary, Wessington Springs, and Central Academy and College - the forerunners of the Central we know today.
It is that same calling and commission that drives us today, and will continue to inspire us into the future - our commitment to pursue Christ in all things, is what makes Central Christian - Central Christian.
I pray that you, too, would consider your role in our story. In every generation there have been those, like you, who have sustained the mission and ministry of Central. Our shared existence is an outcome of our shared investment. Central will endure because of the blessing of its God and the generosity of its patrons. Would you invest in Central's mission by giving online today?
Ultimately, I pray that history find us as ready to run the race with the same perseverance and perspective as those who came before us.
